Earlier this month, I was invited to be a plenary speaker at the National Nordic Conference in Helsingor (Denmark), as well as the Norskkonferansen, the National Conference on Norwegian as a Second Language in Oslo. In my presentation, I discussed various understandings of literacy, presented data samples of my ongoing doctoral research, and offered possible implications for language practitioners. I was able to share my work with around 700 people, most of them teachers, researchers, and adult migrant language practitioners (plus online audience via live stream). It has been an absolutely amazing experience to travel to Denmark (first time!) and to Norway (second time!). Unfortunately, I was on a rather tight schedule. Yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I met wonderful people on the way and had some eye-opening conversations.
