Earlier in May, I was given the opportunity to take part in a research workshop on Multimodality, run by two very prominent researchers, Gunther Kress and Theo Van Leeuwen. This was a pretty unique opportunity, as the scholars offered doctoral and post-doctoral researchers ‘micro supervisions’ on our respective projects – a truly remarkable experience.
In my short presentation (7min!), I opted to talk about one multimodal and interactional sample of data collected from one of my key participants, concerning the informal and habitual use of a live streaming app (‘YouNow’) to support English language and literacy development.
A more detailed account of the two day event can be found here, on the Multimodality at Leeds blog.
